"I've had many motorcycles over the last 50+ years and many of them have been somewhat, uh, "different". At the current time I have 3 other more main stream bikes and I am very interested in buying a Royal Enfield Himalayan. However, while doing research I came across the 535 1 cylinder Continental GT and it was just so beautiful I just wanted one. Since they're out of production, I figured the Himalayan could wait and I'd try to get a new 'left over' 535 before they were gone for good. With internet searches, I found a couple in Florida and Texas and one in Tennessee. A pretty long distance from Pennsylvania but I was willing to go for it. But then I discovered they had 2 at Gatto in Tarentum which is only about 235 miles from my home. At that point, texts and emails started going back and forth between Jon at Gatto and me and within a week, we came up with a deal I was happy with!
I had been thinking about possibly getting out to Tarentum and slowly riding the bike home on back roads but then I discovered the bike literally only had 6 miles on it, so with the engine break in procedure restrictions, that wasn't going to work. So my wife and I went out with my motorcycle trailer to haul it home.
The entire process at Gatto couldn't have gone better. As I pulled up, one employee was putting the last minute touches on the bike by polishing the engine cases. The employee (sorry, I didn't get his name) gave us some sample polish, polishing materials and advice. Very nice introduction to the dealership.
Went to the showroom, which is awesome by the way. The entire paperwork process went very nicely and while I was working on that, Jon and another employee were loading the bike on the trailer and strapping it down.
Jon, my sales person, then went over the essentials and then my wife and I were on our way home. Got home around 6:00 that evening but I had to take it out for a short ride. Started right up and it ran even better than I would have hoped for.
In the last several days, I've put on almost 200 miles and love this bike more every mile I ride it. Runs perfectly. A great surprise is that the transmission is much better than I expected. Not quite as good as my BMW and Indian, but really not that far off at all! Great! In addition, the engine is not as 'buzzy' as some user forum members would have one believe (at least at break in speeds).
Oh, one last note: Other riders love the looks of my red Continental GT! Just today, I had 3 riders looking at it almost in a daze - they were just stunned by how good it looked!
Thanks Jon and Gatto!"
